Hi, my name is Minh! I come from Vietnam and I started my study in Taiwan in 2012 with the major of structural engineering.

I started a new life away from family and friends in this beautiful island with full of excitement. Before arriving Taiwan, I thought I prepared enough information about my new university and my new life from senior students and internet, however, what I experienced still made me surprised. Everything in Taiwan is amazing that I think people need a lot of time to discover.

I live in a dormitory in the campus which looks like a giant park. Of course, it is clean, quiet, and I could feel like living with nature, plants, flowers, and animals. My dormitory is placed near the main gate that is really convenient for all my activities. Just five minutes cycling, I can reach to library, sport center, and restaurants.

As other students, I took some courses, and participated in group discussions under the guidance of professors. Through lessons in class and the enthusiastic help of the Taiwanese professors and students, I gained knowledge about the subject and software in preparation for graduation thesis.

Besides, I really like Chinese culture and tradition. So whenever having free time, I usually visit new places to view beautiful screen and enjoy daily life in Taiwan. In NTU, you can also discover Taiwanese culture through Chinese courses and diverse activities of clubs. When participating to these activities, I am sure that you can get more understanding about Taiwan and you also can make friend with foreign students all over the world.

Another enjoyable part of my journey has been living with Taiwanese family when joining in Host Family Activity in Chinese New Year. During that time, I have chance to enjoy traditional food and travel around Taiwan with that hospitable family. Many customs are similar to Vietnam that made me feel like home.

Taiwan is special, Taiwanese people are special too. I will never forget the place I had been, the friends I met in Taiwan. What I experienced during 1 year living here is a memorable part of my life.

For my future, I would like to work for some years. After that, I‘ll apply PhD degree in other foreign country. I believe what I experienced in Taiwan will be very helpful for my upcoming life.
